One weekend a year, in September, the seaside town of Sheringham, in conjunction with the nearby town of Holt, goes back several decades to the 1940s.
Centred around the North Norfolk Railway, The Poppy Line, the station provides a great backdrop for the comings and goings of people all dressed in vintage costumes and with steam trains and heritage buses running all weekend.
People come from all round the country and whilst dressing up is not obligatory, it’s great to join in the fun! You’ll find land girls, military uniforms, some dapper civilians and you might even see a Winston Churchill! Join in the dancing on the station platform acne pharmacy online order accutane or watch the vintage vehicles passing in the street.
The High Street is decorated in period style, the shops join in with vintage shop displays; food, drink and live music is all laid on too. Why not book ahead for next year and start planning what outfit you fancy wearing!

Had great weekend this year what date for 2016
Brilliant! I’m looking forward to seeing the photos. I don’t think the date is confirmed until next year, but it normally falls on or around the third weekend of September.
Please let me know when the 1940s weekend is on 2016. Thank you. Marie
The only mention I’ve found so far for 2016 is on this site http://www.fortiesweekend.com. It suggests Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September, which is the third weekend in September as in previous years.

The 2016 dates are now confirmed as 17th and 18th September.
We can’t wait to join you this year. This may sound silly to you but will there be any loud bangs at all I have a fear of them but not to bad if I am aware bangs may happen eg shot gun fire fireworks baloons
Hello Sue, I haven’t attended the weekend myself so I can’t answer you. There is music, dancing, the steam train is obviously noisy and I wouldn’t be surprised if someone has something that makes the air raid noise. If you go I hope you enjoy it, I know it’s a very busy bustling weekend. 🙂
Yet another great weekend. I We have been attending these events for a while now and always enjoy it. I have also ammased a good few photographs over the years and would like to share them with this site if that would be alright.
