Guest charges for booking your holiday online

I received an email this week, pointing to a new charge that the Homeaway Group are bringing in during February, that of a “service fee” for guests. Homeaway are a US based, large holiday group of listing sites, now owned by Expedia.  Some of you will use Homeaway or have come across one of its subsidiaries, Owners Direct, a favoured site by many UK guests in particular. They already abandoned their USP some time ago in that many of the properties are agency properties rather than owner run ones and enquiring will only get you through to a customer service team who will have no personal knowledge of the property you are enquiring about.

pound signService fees are gradually creeping across the board into all the big sites, usually “sold” to you the guest as a price worth paying for the security and convenience of booking through their site. Ultimately it simply means you will pay more for your holiday than if you book your holiday direct with the owner.  The owners are not benefiting from this change. Increasingly, the larger companies are “meddling” in our businesses more and more, bringing in automatic quoting systems and trying to channel us all into online booking.

If you’re thinking of a few days away, then why not get away to the coast and have the sea breezes blow some cobwebs away? Enjoy the beaches all to yourself, walk for miles and find a dog friendly pub or cafe at the end to warm up with a hot chocolate or perhaps a glass of wine, whatever your tipple, there’s something to suit!

Looking back at 2015

The New Year is a busy time for many holiday home owners, as thoughts turn to booking a holiday.  As I write this, the summer months are almost fully booked with just a handful of short breaks left in July and August. Many holiday properties only offer full weeks during the summer, but we know many of you like a series of short breaks through the year rather than one big holiday, so we’re happy to cater for both weekly bookings and short breaks, all year round, in Beachscape and Tides. I’ve been on a learning curve this week. I’ve wanted to make a video from some of the lovely photos I have of the properties. Something that gives a real flavour of the property.  I started with Beachscape and used Stupeflix to make the video.  Well although the result was ok, the screen resolution I felt was very poor on the free version. I suffer from insomnia and sleep apnea. Ambien is the only medication that helps me survive since nothing had helped. My doctor prescribed me this preparation as a last resort and told me about possible dependency. It puts you asleep after 20 minutes and you can have 2-9 of healthy sleep without nightmares. I like that I can control my sleep without experiencing excessive drowsiness, unsteadiness, http://enggnagar.com/order-ambien-online/ and confusion in the morning. I looked for something better and found that I already had video making software on my computer.  Sometimes you just overlook the obvious!
