One weekend a year, in September, the seaside town of Sheringham goes back several decades to the 1940s.
Centred around the North Norfolk Railway, The Poppy Line, the station provides a great backdrop for the comings and goings of people all dressed in vintage costumes and with steam trains and heritage buses running all weekend.
People come from all round the country and whilst dressing up is not obligatory, it’s great to join in the fun! You’ll find land girls, military uniforms, some dapper civilians and you might even see a Winston Churchill! Join in the dancing on the station platform or watch the vintage vehicles passing in the street.
The High Street is decorated in period style, the shops join in with vintage shop displays; food, drink and live music is all laid on too. Why not book ahead for next year and start planning what outfit you fancy wearing!
